Protein Fire - Common Carpet Problems

Description
The slow burning of animal fat and protein leaves a strong, rancid odor. A typical example is a roast left too long in the oven or ton the grill for too long.

Cause
Under long exposure to low-level heat, animal fat and protein emit a fine mist which is almost transparent and, consequently, almost invisible. The rancid odor is often the most obsrvsble fact.

Treatment
All carpets and rugs affected by protein fire have to be first cleaned completely using standard cleaning solutions. It is advisable to consult a reputed professional cleaner/restorer.
